Observation 29. Butt on the Line (9/1/04) Observation. Ever notice that everyone who is not responsible for a something always has a plan to fix it, but those responsible for it, and whose butt is on the line, can't seem to find any feasible solution. You see this in company break rooms, family reunions, and in politicians who are not in power. Comments. None. Observation 28. I Can't (8/31/04) Observation. I'm sick of hearing, I can't. Of course you can't, your never try! If you are not physically or mentally disabled, then you can do almost anything, if you try. Some people may have to try harder and longer than others but all may succeed if they try. Not everyone may become an expert at everything they try, but they may become proficient at everything they try. If you do not try, then you have a character deficiency for which you need to seek help. I'm not a psychologist or psychiatrist, so I don't treat character disabilities. I teach Taekwondo to those who are willing to try. Nobody cares about someone who can't do anything. Employers want workers who can do something that will increase profits. The self-employed will fail if they can not do something well enough that people will pay them to do it. If you can't do anything, then shut up and get out of the way of people who can. Comments. None. Observation 27. World Peace (8/20/04) Observation. In the immortal words of Rodney King, "Why can't we all just get along." (One email I received said I was a racist for using this quote, of course the writer did not include a return address). Elitists also think we should and could have world peace. Does anybody (except for Miss America constants) think humans will ever achieve world peace as long as the human traits of greed, lust, and desire for power exist? The elitists of other countries will not give up any of their power to American elitists so world peace can never be achieved. Comments. Sarah said… Here’s a couple of good sayings to go with on this topic… “To have peace, prepare to war.” and… “Law can not exist without chaos, and chaos can not exist without law.” Observation 26. No Justice (8/20/04) Observation. Most people have a misinformed view of what the way the criminal justice system works. They think it exists to bring justice to the world by trying and punishing the guilty. The justice system has little to do with the guilt or innocence of the accused. It is game played by lawyers and judges. If the game is not played correctly, the accused walks. If it is played correctly, the accused may be found guilty. A sane person could walk up to a politician and murder him while on live television for millions of people to see, and, in our justice system, be found not guilty if the justice game is not played strictly by the rules or a slick defense lawyer convinces a hand-picked jury that the defendant had a deprived childhood. Our justice system is just that, a system. Comments. None. Observation 25. News (8/20/04) Observation. Once there was a day when news reporters did just that, they reported the news. Now, reporters continuously tell us what they think about the news. They give their opinion on everything. They televise a speech for us to hear and then spend hours telling us what the person said and their opinion on the speech. We are the ignoObservation public who cannot understand words. We need to have a wise reporter explain the words to us. What would we do if it weren't for Katie Couric, and her ilk, to ask her condescending, leading questions (that are fed to her by hundreds of staff writers) of naive, ordinary people trying to do the right thing. Ever listen to news reporters defend themselves when they are accused of liberal bias in their questioning. They sound like a child who has been accused of calling another child "a big fat pig." The child defends herself by saying "I didn't call her a big fat pig" I said "SOME SAY you are a big fat pig." Comments. None. Observation 24. Right and Wrong (8/19/04) Observation. There are those who believe there is no right or wrong. They believe that what is right for one person may be wrong for another, and vice versa. They also believe rocks rubbed on the body can heal, cards can foretell the future, the location of stars in the sky when they are born can affect their lives, and that Nostradamus predicted the future. Many things are inherently wrong. It is wrong to molest a child even if some elitists actually believe it is right to have sex with children. It is wrong to steal, even if you need the money. I once knew a guy who proclaimed that if people steal because they need money, then it is alright. Then someone stole his guitar and music he had written and he was was extremely upset about it. I said "Maybe the person needed the money." His reply was "Yes, but he didn't need the sheets of music." As the old saying states "During war, there are no atheists in foxholes." Holy than thou attitudes disappear when people are faced with personal tragedies. Even in high school I wondered about the validity of the debate club where participants had to prepare to argue either side of the subject. Now I think this type of education has helped foster the current belief that there is no right or wrong. It especially helps breed potential lawyers who will defend the actions of any client for the right money, even Satan if he paid enough. There is right and there is wrong. If you do not stand for what you think is right, then you are wrong. As I was the senior enlisted person in most departments and at some commands at which I was assigned in the Navy, some thought I should defend the actions of my men and stand behind them no matter what. If they were in the right, I would stand in front of them and protect them. However, if they were wrong, I would stand behind them and ensure they got just punishment. Ever notice how whistleblowers come forth with revelations of wrong doings in companies and government agencies after they retire. While working, they participated in the evil and justified to themselves that what they were doing was right. But once they start receiving their retirement pay, they suddenly see the error of their ways and decide to do what is right. It is easy to do what is right when you have nothing to lose. Comments. None. Observation 23. Compromise (8/17/04) Observation. What if your neighbor starts parking his car in your garage. You ask him why and he says his garage is full of storage boxes so he is going to start using your garage whether you like it or not. To prevent any conflict, do you compromise and work out a deal where he uses your garage on week days and you get to use it on weekends, or do you take action to stop the garage take over. If you are in the right, compromise is surrender. If the United States sought compromise, then it would not be where it is today. If it seeks compromise today, then it will not exist tomorrow. Can the Israelis compromise with Palestinians whose goal is the total annihilation of Israel? Compromise is OK when two entities have equal legal claim to something and seek to settle the conflict, but when one entity simply wants to take something from the other or to eliminate the other, compromise is simply surrender in the face of aggression. Comments. None. Observation 22. America is Responsible for 9/11 (8/17/04) Observation. We do not understand other religions. It is Christianity that is at fault. If we simply tried to understand radical Muslims and tried to compromise with them, they would not hate us. BULL!! They do not want to get along with anyone. They believe that if you are not Muslim, you must die. Do you really believe that if you sympathize and try to understand the background of a serial killer that he will not kill you. A murder likes to kill. Trying to compromise only gives a murder another opportunity to kill. Comments. None. Observation 21. Elitists Know Better (8/15/04) Observation. I was an design student for years at the North Carolina State University School of Design and I was the director of security for the North Carolina Museum of Art for awhile. One thing I noticed at both locations is how the elitists know more about art than the artist. I heard English professors expound on the deep meanings presented by Robert Frost in his poem "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening. " Then, when I attended a lecture by Frost, in response to a question about the meaning of the poem, Frost basically said "It was a snowy day and the words rhymed." I hear a museum curator expound on the deep meanings that the artist placed in her modern abstract painting. However, when asked about the meaning of the painting, the artist said there was none. The painting was painted the way it was painted because it was aesthetically pleasing that way. The curators response to this was that great artists do not realize the meanings of their paintings. Other elitist use this same argument to justify their so called expert opinions. Their theory is that, just as a good driver who is thinking about a serious problem may suddenly find him or herself at home in the garage without remembering the last few miles of the trip, a great artist paints deep meanings into paintings without realizing it. As I said before, elitists believe they know more than the little people. Comments. None. Observation 20. Rewarding Bad People (8/13/04) Observation. Ever hear about the drug dealer who is praised for donating money to build a community park or the mafia don who is praised for helping the elderly in his community? Ever hear about a police officer who is crucified for cursing at a murderer while arresting him? Why do people think you should punish a person who does one thing wrong while trying to do something good, while you should reward a criminal who does one thing good. Comments. None.
